Brief History of the University of Buenos Aires The University of Buenos Aires (UBA) was opened on August 12, 1821 at the initiative of the then minister of government of the province of Buenos Aires, Dr. Bernardino Rivadavia ( edict ). Since then, the organization has traveled the paths of history of the country and the city and provincial university and - since 1881 - national as well as more specific ways that make the construction of an academic, cultural, scientific, space training of professionals, circulation and production of knowledge.
