The Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala was founded 31st. January 1676. In the beginnings, there was just 5 careers been taught. Nowadays, the University has 42 technical careers, 36 professorships, 99 degrees, 24 specializations, 35 masters and 6 PhD's. There are more than 146,000 students, enrolled in 18 University Campus, 10 Faculties and 8 Universitary Schools and 2 Technical Institutes, having presense in 19 of 22 departments (political division of our country). The Universidad de San Carlos in the last 4 years has has supported the efforts of the various academic units to achieve accreditation of curricula, currently being internationally accredited 12 careers, and several more in the process of accreditation. Oriented towards an open doors policy, the University offers various programs, both for university students and to the general public, through Free Program University Courses, as the Continuing Education Program for professionals graduates. To facilitate this growth, the University has modernized many of their processes, offering wireless Internet access throughout the central campus and in the Centro Universitario Metropolitano; payment processes have also become Online processes, gaining access to them anytime and anywhere. There is also several academic units integrated into a e-learning process, as well as the installation of 22 virtual classrooms.
